Amanda Bachmann, SDSU Extension Pesticide Education and Urban Entomology Field Specialist Pest management in diversified vegetable systems can be challenging. We’ll cover integrated pest management strategies focusing on insect pests of cucurbit crops, but the themes will be applicable to a range of cropping systems. Amanda Bachmann is the Pesticide Education and Urban Entomology Field Specialist with SDSU Extension and is based in Pierre. She has a PhD in Entomology from Penn State. Her responsibilities include providing pesticide safety education and training for commercial and private applicators in South Dakota. As an urban entomologist, she works not only with the ‘traditional’ urban pests like bed bugs and mosquitos but also urban pollinators and other beneficial insects.
